About Château de Saint-Maximin près d’Uzès
If you are searching for an exceptional Provençal escape, you have found it. Château de Saint-Maximin près d’Uzès is a discreet hideaway where you can celebrate, unwind, or host a truly distinctive event.
Tucked into a small hill-top village that overlooks the Alzon Valley at the western edge of Provence, the château has been designed as a destination in its own right—perfect for holidays, gatherings, or bespoke celebrations.
A Brief History
First sold in 1156 by the King of France to the Bishop of Uzès, the château later became part of the d’Argenvilliers estate, home to Jean Racine’s uncle. Racine himself recalled walking through the surrounding garrigue to the house in 1661-1662.
